Ranchi, Sept. 13: Government school teachers not imparting education to their wards in the schools they teach should be dismissed from their jobs.

A demand to this effect was raised by a union of private schools, Private School and Children Welfare Association (PASWA), today. The union wants the government to bring an ordinance for the same.

Justifying this demand, the union says that it will help improve the quality of government schools, where quality education is not being imparted to students despite a huge expenditure on payment of teachers and mid-day meals besides others.

The demand has come two days after Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon criticised the government schools for their poor performance while felicitating over 700 private school teachers at Aryabhatta auditorium of state run Ranchi University in the heart of Jharkhand capital.

Union president Alok Dubey, who is also spokesperson of the Congress party, confirmed the development saying that the union wants it to be a pre-condition for the teachers selected for imparting education in government schools.

“It is a bitter truth that it is only private schools where education is imparted properly. The role of government schools, where teachers and headmasters are not transferred for several years, is limited to preparing food and eating it.  Many teachers and headmasters run their own private schools,” Dubey said.

“A list of government school teachers running private schools will be released soon. Apart from this, PASWA workers will also soon visit different government schools to expose the ground reality of government schools,” Dubey added.

PASWA vice president Lal Kishorenath Shahdeo said that demand is not unusual as a step in this direction is being taken in neighbouring Bihar state.

“High court of the state has demanded information regarding the senior officers sending their wards for education to government schools. PASWA will also file a PIL for the same information in Jharkhand,” Shahdeo said.

PASWA secretary Rajesh Kumar echoed Dubey and Shahdeo saying that the ‘government school teachers have got their full salary for the last 17 months though they did not teach a single word.’
