Mumbai: Fresh developments have emerged in the alleged forced religious conversion case at the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Police investigators say the accused used social media platforms to stalk, harass, and send inappropriate messages to survivors and other women employees.
Digital Harassment Under Investigation
According to the probe, the suspects contacted women through Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Investigators are now reviewing chats, obscene comments, and objectionable videos allegedly sent to employees.
Police are also examining whether similar misconduct was carried out against other women staff members and whether the actions were linked to a broader organised motive.
Arrests and Search for Key Accused
Seven people have already been arrested in the case. Another accused, identified as Nida Khan, is currently absconding. Authorities are working to trace her location.
Technical teams are helping investigators recover deleted chats, files, and digital records from seized mobile phones and social media accounts to build stronger evidence.
NHRC Seeks Reports
The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to senior company officials and police authorities, seeking detailed responses. It has directed Maharashtra and Nashik police to conduct a thorough investigation and submit an Action Taken Report.
The commission has also asked the TCS chief executive to provide details of the company’s Internal POSH Committee, its activities over the last three years, and complaints received so far.
Additionally, the state labour commissioner has been asked to submit records related to TCS offices, BPO units, subsidiaries, and their registration documents across India.
