Ranchi, Sept.20: Police arrested a quack for creating an obstruction in the government work.

The action was taken at Simdega after a quack on August 10 this year asked an ambulance driver to return without taking a victim of a snake bite saying he will treat the patient by practicing magic.

Superintendent of police of the district, Shams Tabrez informed this to the media producing the arrested quack, Junas Barla (56).

“The Circle officer of Jaldega in coordination with the local community health centre sent an ambulance to bring the victim of snake bite on getting information from the village area but the quack Junas Barla returned the ambulance and not allowed the victim to the health centre for treatment. An FIR was registered in this connection at Bansjore OP. Barla escaped anticipating his arrest but finally he was arrested today,” Tabrez said.

Asked Tabrez about the patient, he said: “The patient is a 30 -year old man. He was saved after the administration interfered and provided him proper treatment.”

He later made an appeal to the people not to come under the influence of quacks in case of snake bite and must go to hospital for treatment. He made it clear that creating hurdles in saving the life of a person is like obstructing someone to perform his government duty.

“It is peculiar that quacks consume valuable time and in case of bite by venomous snake a person dies without treatment. I appreciate the circle officer for at least this problem to the police,” Tabrez said.
