Patna: With the Bihar Assembly elections expected in November or December, political heat in the state is intensifying. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has launched a sharp poster campaign targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the NRC and Waqf amendment bill, accusing him of betrayal.
A poster displayed outside former Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s residence reads: “You are a betrayer… We are not with you on NRC, and certainly not on the Waqf Bill.” The poster further adds, “We’ll take your votes, but we won’t stand with you,” directly attacking the Janata Dal (United) ahead of the upcoming polls.
The poster has been put up by Sanju Kohli, a former district councillor from Makhdumpur and a current member of Disha Jehanabad, an organisation aligned with the RJD.
JDU Responds, Accuses Lalu Of Exploiting Minorities
In response, JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar launched a scathing counterattack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. “The one who had minority properties registered in his name is the real offender,” Kumar alleged. He claimed that the Lalu family used jobs and politics as tools to acquire property from minorities.
“They didn’t even spare the Muslim community. On the other hand, Nitish Kumar’s government returned land and homes to those displaced during the Bhagalpur riots,” Kumar said, referring to past communal violence. He further added, “What moral ground does the RJD have to oppose the NRC or the Waqf Bill when they have been beneficiaries of others’ suffering?”
Kumar also attacked Lalu’s tenure, stating that the RJD chief sat “idle for 15 years” while Nitish Kumar worked to rehabilitate the displaced and restore justice.
The poster war highlights the growing friction between the two former allies ahead of the state elections, with both sides trying to consolidate support, especially among minority voters.
