Rs 2 crore recovered in IT raids on Ranchi doctor, steel giants in Giridih

Ranchi, Dec. 14: The Income Tax (IT) department on Wednesday carried a massive investigation against Ranchi-based doctor Majid Alam and many other businessmen in a tax evasion case. So far around Rs two crore in cash besides many documents have been seized during the search and survey.

As per the information, the survey is being carried at as many as 28 locations, including three in Kolkata and 25 in Jharkhand. In Jharkhand, the IT team carried out operations at several places in Ranchi, Giridih and Deoghar. The survey operation started early in the morning.  Majid Alam is the owner of Alam Nursing Home located at Bariatu. In Ranchi, a team of IT officials searched his different premises and seized several documents. Similarly search and seizure were carried out against Mongia Group of Companies owned by Gunvant Singh Saluja. Sources in the department said that search and survey will continue tomorrow.
