New Delhi, May 13: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022.
A panel of Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant said it couldn’t order the exam to be postponed since it would put lakhs of applicants who had enrolled and prepared for it in jeopardy.
The apex court was hearing the matter following a petition submitted by candidates alleging that the current exam, slated for May 21, would conflict with the ongoing NEET PG 2021 counselling process.
Earlier, students have also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to postpone the NEET PG 2022 exam. Apart from these doctors’ organisations, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) had also urged that the NEET PG exam be rescheduled by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. They claimed that the time between the NEET PG 2022 exam date and the end of 2021 counselling is insufficient for an aspirant to study for the exam.
Notably, the exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 21.
