New Delhi, March 16: The Supreme Court stated on Wednesday that the petitions challenging the Karnataka High Court’s order on hijab matter will be heard after the Holi vacations.
Hijab ban matter was mentioned before the Supreme Court for urgent hearing by senior advocate Sanjay Hegde. Hegde brought up the issue today, claiming that there is a sense of urgency because the examinations are approaching and the High Court’s order will affect students.

Notably, the Karnataka High Court ruled on Tuesday that wearing a hijab (a headscarf worn by Muslim women) is not an essential practice in Islam, dismissing several petitions contesting a ban on hijabs at educational institutions. The decision puts an end to a months-long debate in Karnataka, where students staged protests because they were not allowed to wear hijabs in educational institutions.
