Jamshedpur, Nov 21: The chill has intensified in Jharkhand with places like Bokaro, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Daltonganj and Simdega witnessing a sub-10 chill.

On Monday, Daltonganj recorded the season’s lowest minimum reading of eight degrees Celsius.  Simdega too recorded around eight degrees today.

Several other districts in central Jharkhand, recorded similar temperatures, making it the coldest day of the season.

Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of around 10°C while Jamshedpur was a bit warmer at around 13 °C.

Godda, Deoghar and several other places in the Santhal Pargana region also experienced the chill where the night readings fluctuated between 13- 14 degrees Celsius.

Weathermen said the dominating north-westerly wind was causing the night temperature to plummet. Head of Ranchi Met Centre Abhishek Anand agreed that a sub-10 chill was prevailing in several districts of Jharkhand on Monday.

However, he maintained that there wouldn’t be many fluctuations in the minimum temperature reading in the next 48 hours.

With a dip in temperatures,  the early morning fog was also witnessed at several places across Jharkhand on Monday, including Jamshedpur.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of shallow to moderate fog and mist in the morning for the next 72- hours.

Dry weather conditions will prevail over Jharkhand for the next few days.
