New Delhi, Nov 2: In India’s Group 2 match against Bangladesh in Adelaide on Wednesday, Virat Kohli got a personal score of 16, making him the greatest run-scorer in ICC T20 World Cup history.
After India’s captain Rohit Sharma was cheaply replaced, Kohli entered the game early and looked proficient right away. Mahela Jayawardene, a former captain of Sri Lanka, set the previous record with 1016 runs in 31 innings. In the tournament’s history, Kohli was on the field for the 25th time.
The ICC T20 World Cup’s 2014 and 2016 iterations were lit up by the Indian talisman. In 2014, he scored the most runs with 319, which helped India go to the final where they fell to Sri Lanka. As India was eliminated in the semi-final stage in 2016, Kohli placed second (273) on the run rankings.
Kohli received praise from BCCI for gaining yet another accomplishment.
He had just played the game-winning 82* against Pakistan before going on to play an innings of 62 against the Netherlands. Kohli, though, was removed for 12 against South Africa, ending his streak of victories.
