Ranchi, Dec. 29: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren claimed that after 20 years of exploitation and discrimination, changes are now chattering in Jharkhand and the state has moved on the path of development.
Soren said this on Friday during a programme as his government completed three years in office when Hemant Soren heading the JMM-Congress-RJD combine won a massive mandate. On the occasion three welfare schemes namely Jharkhand Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojna, pre matriculation scholarship Yojana and Sukha Rahat Yojana were launched and cash worth Rs. 951 crore were transferred to the bank account of beneficiaries.
Hemant Soren said as a Chief Minister he has seen many ups and downs and extreme conditions. He said that in the last 20 years none of the government faced such a challenge which his government has faced.
“The government had yet not started functioning when the Covid 19 hit the nation and life came to a standstill so the economy. Nobody knew what was going to be next. But we did not surrender,” said Hemant Soren.
He said that Jharkhand may be branded as an undeveloped state which lacks even basic facilities. But during the pandemic the so-called developed states with good hospitals and doctors were unable to manage the crisis. People were dying like cattle. There were not even basic facilities to perform list rites of the deceased. Situation was so horrific that people were forced to throw dead bodies of the deceased to become fodder for animals, he added
“But in Jharkhand we managed the crisis in a very effective manner. Jharkhand is known for farmers and labourers. If they don’t work a single day they will not have food to eat. But not even a single person died out of hunger in Jharkhand. And this is our achievement,” said Hemant Soren.
Hemant Soren claimed that after he took rein of Jharkhand the situation of the state changed. “We accelerated the pace of the development and people responded with their faith in the government. Otherwise the situation was very different in the past. Jharkhand suffered exploitation and discrimination for 20 years. There was daily demonstration and agitation. Today students of Jharkhand are pursuing education in the foreign countries also,” Hemant Soren took a jibe at the BJP.
Highlighting the achievements of his government, he said that the government created job opportunities. He said that the government streamlined functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission which was caught in the cobweb of corruption. “The JPSC spoiled the lives of many students in the name of holding examinations. But we completed the recruitment process in 250 days. Now in Jharkhand students belonging to BPL families are becoming officers. Similarly, the drought affected Jharkhand in the past on a number of occasions but no relief was ever provided by the government. But we are now providing,” he said.
On this occasion, Johar Khiladi Portal was also launched for sportspersons and sport technicians that aim to introduce and execute welfare projects for sports persons.
