Hazaribag, Oct 2: Vehicular movement on GT road started on Sunday morning after gas from the overturned tanker was emptied in a gas recovery van by a rescue team of Durgapur. Due to this mishap in Danua Ghati of Chouparan, vehicles seen stranded for several kilometers with people seen walking for kilometers to get food and water.
As the tanker overturned at 6 in the morning on Saturday, district administration ordered halt of vehicular movement seeing threat from the leaking gas which has taken lives of three few months ago at this spot in a similar incident.
According to them, Durgapur team came in action after reaching here. They found the valve of the tanker leaking. So work started to empty the tanker which finally ended at 3 in the morning. This morning, GT road again opened for normal traffic. Due to mishap, as a precautionary measure, administration even ordered. Villagers not to even smoke seeing the leakage of gas. Even cooking in open not allowed making panic-stricken villagers of the nearby villages close to Danua ghati to go to other places for safety. Even power supply also stopped in this area and all roadside hotels asked to shutdown.
Sources said NHAI contractors and engineers mistake had resulted in several faults at Danua ghati while constructing four lane here in 2004-2005. Due to this, accident taking place here regularly claiming lives on time-to-time.
