Ranchi, March 22: The Jharkhand Tribal Development Society is currently running ‘Conservation cum-Development plans (CCD) in 1733 villages in Jharkhand which are home to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).
PVTGs are the most vulnerable section among tribals. They stay in isolated, remote, and difficult areas in small and scattered habitats. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Manager at Finance and Administration, JTDS explained the scheme and its importance.
“The CCD schemes aim at the socio-economic development of PVTGs in a comprehensive manner while retaining the culture and heritage of the community by adopting habitat development approaches. Apart from this, it also intervenes in their social and economic life so that an impact is made in improving the quality of life of PVTGs,” he said.
As per the scheme by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, ‘It focuses on improving the institutional framework in the PVTG areas. The activities should be sustainable and aim at long-term socio-economic developments, creation of special health centers for PVTGs beyond National Health Mission (NHM) norms and support to existing institutions for manpower.’
Singh added that The Plans which are submitted by the State Government are examined and reviewed by the Project Appraisal Committee.
Under agriculture, PVTG funds are used for activities like the revival of traditional nutritious crops, crop planning to ensure multiple crops, and crop rotation. Funds and manpower are accessed from schemes of line Ministries, as stated by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
