VISHVENDU JAIPURIAR
Hazaribag, Oct 18: Ara village in Dadha panchayat of Ichak block has 60 houses with 200 population. The village is known for its patriotism because of its two dozen youths who are working in paramilitary forces and the army.
However, this place is still struggling for a proper road even after villagers knocked on the doors of officials to people’s representatives several times. Situated in nature’s lap, it is very tough to reach Ara village during monsoon. Villagers said that many youths of this village are daily wage labourers but they find it very difficult to go to work daily.
Udit Das, Shambhu Sharan Das, Satnarayan Das, Prakash Mehta and other villagers said that Ara came into existence around 400 years ago. But as the demand for roads was never fulfilled, many migrated from this village in recent years. “After monsoon gets over, we repair the kutcha road every year,” they added.
Villagers said this area lacked a road to the mobile network, health centre as well as school. “We have nothing here but still live in this village and our sons are working for the army,” they added.
Udit Das said as their village is surrounded by forests, they face elephants’ menace around the year. “We are 12 km away from block headquarters and lack a road, who will care for us?” asked Das.
Mukhiya of Dadha panchayat Sunita Devi said she knows about this village and their problem. “I will ensure taking up this matter at the appropriate forum to get it repaired as soon as possible,” she said when asked about the steps taken by the Panchayat on this issue.
