Victoria: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a state visit to Seychelles, offered prayers at the Arul Mihu Navashakti Vinayagar Temple in the capital Victoria on Monday. The temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha and established in 1992, is the only Hindu temple in Seychelles and a major centre of faith for the Tamil and other Indian communities living there.

Cultural Diplomacy at the Forefront

The local Indian community had made special decorations and preparations for the PM’s visit. After the prayers, PM Modi highlighted the deep cultural and spiritual ties between India and Seychelles. Experts say the temple visit is aimed at advancing cultural diplomacy. Seychelles, located in the Indian Ocean, is considered strategically important for India.

Guardian of the Blue Horizon

On Sunday, PM Modi was conferred the title of Guardian of the Blue Horizon by the Seychelles Parliament, an honour he accepted with pride and gratitude while addressing the assembly.
