Ramgarh, Sept 2: The Ramgarh district administration is going to appoint legal guardians for the welfare of intellectually disabled persons. The information came to the fore after a meeting organized under the chairmanship of Ramgarh Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Kumar Sinha on Friday.
Probationary Officer Ranjit Kumar informed the DDC and other officers that as per the instructions of the National Trust, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a Legal Guardian is to be appointed for better protection and welfare of the intellectually disabled.
The guardian can be the parents of the handicapped person or any other person. At present, 1 application has been received in the Legal Guardian case before the Local Level Committee.
During the meeting, the DDC, while discussing the application received with other members of the committee, gave necessary instructions regarding its execution. He said that due to the lack of awareness in the context of the above, there are currently many areas in the district where intellectually handicapped need a legal guardian, so it is very important that more and more people should be aware of it.
He directed the officers to conduct a survey and ensure necessary action to appoint legal guardians for the intellectually handicapped while ensuring its wide publicity.
