Ramgarh, April 25: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s cousin Rekha Soren will try her luck in the three-tier panchayat election that is to be held from May 14.
Rekha Soren has filed the nomination as a candidate for Zila Parishad East Zone of Gola block. She is believed to be competing with Usha Devi, wife of AJSU-backed outgoing Zila Parishad member Kapildev Munda.
Most of the tribals live in this area in the three Zila Parishad seats of the block due to which this seat has been reserved for tribals all three times.
After filing the nomination, a confident Rekha Soren said,” I decided to contest the election because the former Zila Parishad presidents have failed to fulfil the promises made to the people and improve their standard of living. It is a tribal-dominated area, there are no health facilities and educational institutions for women in the area.”
“I am confident of winning the election,” she added.
Rekha Soren has expressed her commitment to improving the quality of education and improving health facilities for the women of her area.
Meanwhile, Jaleshwar Mahto, Sagir Ahmed, Janardan Pathak, Manoj Puzhar, Sunil Chakraborty, Saraswati Devi, Sulekha Karmali, Laxmi Devi and other candidates also filed their nominations for the election.
