Ranchi, Nov 13: President Draupadi Murmu is set to lead the Tribal Gaurav Diwas celebrations in November this year, as per the information released by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda.
Minister Munda further said that on the occasion of Tribal Gaurav Diwas on November 15, the President will visit Ulihatu village in Khunti district in Jharkhand, the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and pay tributes to him there.
The President will inaugurate projects of the Ministry of Road and Transport and Ministry of Power and will also lay the foundation stone of several Eklavya schools in Khunti. She is also expected to address members of women’s self-help groups under TRIFED and NRLM in and around Khunti.
The Union Minister informed that the Vice President along with other MPs will pay floral tributes at the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Parliament House Complex, New Delhi on November 15.
Munda said that a large number of programmes are also to be organised at the national and state level to celebrate Tribal Gaurav Diwas from November 15 to 22. The Union Minister informed that plans for celebrations and programmes have been prepared in the states from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh including several villages, and remote areas.
He said that state capitals in coordination with State Governments and State Tribal Research Institutes across the country are set to organise youth marches and performances by tribal artists; cultural programmes; seminars/workshops; Essay, Song, Dance, Sports and Painting Competitions, including several programmes like cleanliness campaigns.
Minister Munda also said that the Government of India under the leadership of PM Modi has declared November 15 as Tribal Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day) to remember the contribution of tribal communities to the history and culture of the country. He also said that this is the second year Tribal Gaurav Diwas will be celebrated. The day is also observed to honour all tribal freedom fighters and to re-energize efforts for the socio-economic development of tribal areas and communities.
Munda further appealed that more people be made aware of the festival and be included in the celebrations. He also said that work is going on in full swing to complete the construction of 740 EMRSs across the country.
The Minister also informed that on the special occasion of Tribal Pride Day 2022, TRIFED has organised pan-India programmes on tribal products. Aadi Mahotsav will be organised at Gramin Haat, Indore from November 15 to 27, while Aadi Bazaar will be organised at Ekamra Haat, Bhubaneswar from November 15 to 21.
Another Adi Bazaar will be set up at Digli Pukhuri in the Lakhidhar Bora area of South Guwahati from November 15 to 21. Similarly, Aadi Bazaars will be organised in Puducherry in the craft market from November 15 to 21; and at the Forest Research Institute on Chakrata Road in Dehradun till November 21. Finally, an Aadi Chitra programme will be organised at the Indian Museum in Kolkata from November 15 to 24.
A series of different programmes will be organised at 392 Eklavya Model Residential Schools at multiple locations across the country to celebrate Tribal Gaurav Diwas 2022. The essay writing competition will be held on November 15 while poster making competition will be organised on November 16. A dance competition will be organised on November 17 while a skit competition will be organized on November 18. Similarly, poetry and song competitions will be organised on November 19 while quiz competitions will be held on November 21.
Seminars/ webinars/ interactions will also be held in various Eklavya Model Residential Schools on the subject of ‘Contribution of Tribal Freedom Fighters in the Freedom Movement of India’.
Several Union Ministries including the Railways, Education and Culture have planned programmes across the country to celebrate Tribal Gaurav Diwas and to highlight the pride of the tribal community and tribal freedom fighters.
The hashtag #TribalPrideDay for the programme will be used for wider publicity of tribal community-centric schemes and initiatives and wider participation in the government’s developmental efforts.
