Ranchi, May 4: Jharkhand Governor C.P Radhakrishnan today urged universities of the state to implement new education policy.
“New Education Policy 2020 is one of the major initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Universities should implement it,” Radhakrishnan said while addressing the first convocation ceremony of Usha Martin University.
Congratulating the students and their parents besides the university administration, he shared his idea about education and explained why it is important to study.
“Education is the greatest gift to mankind. Education is the only medium through which we can enhance our talent,” he pointed out and told the students to work hard as there is no short-cut to success.
The governor, on the occasion, asked the students to use their knowledge and skill for the betterment of society.
“You worked hard during graduation and post-graduation. You have demonstrated your commitment to learning and have acquired the knowledge and skills that will enable you to pursue your dreams and positively impact the world. As you leave the university and step into the real world, I urge you to use your education not only to shape your career but also to contribute to the betterment of society,” he said.
The governor asked students to think about the poor. “You are fortunate to be able to pursue higher education. You are lucky to be born in a family that can pay for your education. There are many youths in our state that are unable to pursue higher education due to poverty. Today you have to think about that also,” he said.
18 undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded Gold medals during the convocation as 577 students were given their degrees. Usha Martin Ltd (UML) founder Basant Jhawar and Super-30 founder Anand Kumar were awarded an honorary degree of D.Lit.
Chancellor of Usha Martin University Prabhat Kumar, who happens to be the first governor of Jharkhand, UMU Chairman Hemant Goyal, Pro-Chancellor Suresh Garg, Vice-Chancellor Madhulika Kaushik were present among others in the function. Founder member of Usha Martin University, Basant Jhawar delivered his message online.
During the convocation, the vice-chancellor presented the annual report in which she explained about the infrastructure in the permanent campus. She further talked about providing better education in the university. She thanked the government for different works in the university. She said that recently the university has done many things in research and development.
Among those received gold medal included Koylada Dipankar, Deepshikha, G Jaya Lakshmi, Megha Kumari, Raj Soni, Mary Jarman Ekka, Pandey Abhishek Nath Roy, Krishna Kumar Singh, Jagrut Roy, Mohd Yasir Arafat, Roshan Raj Prajapati, Indrajit Yadav, Krishna Kuma Singh, Gajala Parveen, Abhinav Kumar Gupta, Govinda Giri, Rakhi Kumari, Puran Boipai and Chandan Kumar.
